On Thursday the 4th July 2019 Great Barr Golf Club hosted a charity golf day for Cost of Cancer which was sponsored by Ultraline

Cost of Cancer is a charity that helps those who are finding life financially difficult whilst going through treatment for cancer. Please head over to their recently rebuilt website where you can find out all about the charity and also how to donate to this really important charity.

Ultraline are UK wide business who look to enhance contemporary living environments with no visual compromise using state of the art design and engineering sponsored the golf day. They worked on transforming the club house into a technology hub with live leader-boards on display and a vast array of golfing goodies. A drone was used to capture some fantastic shots of the golfers putting the skills to test across the Great Barr par 72 golf course which always offers a challenging but fun round of golf.

The golf day was a shotgun start in glorious July sunshine and featured several prizes for the charitable golfers who certainly dressed for the occasion.

The directors of Ultraline would like to pass on our thanks to Great Barr Golf Club for its organisation and hosting of our charity golf day. The feedback we have had makes us really proud of what we have achieved from the day. The event ran smoothly and that no doubt contributed to a successful fundraising effort and it’s on this note we have to thank the generosity of all our golfers and their organisations as we raised a phenomenal £18,000 from this event. We know the Cost of Cancer charity will be thrilled with this donation and very grateful for the generosity shown.

Macmillan Cancer Support

On Friday the 26th July 4 of our members took on the longest day of golf challenge in aid of the Macmillan cancer support charity.

72 hole challenge

Debbie Cooper (our lady captain) along with Sarah Barry, Alan Bell and Warren Dempster pulled on their golf shoes and tee’d off at a rather sleepy 5:30 am to start this long and challenging feat.

The team were thrilled by the encouragement of other members who kindly let them play though as the day progressed. They managed to get 4 rounds completed in a timely fashion – a good job considering Warren was playing in the club championship the following day.

Of course this charity will touch many members of the golf club and their families and friends so our endurance golfers were hugely appreciative of the donations you kindly gave.

On behalf of the 72 challenge team, thank you so much for your support. Throughout the day the amount of encouragement we received kept us going. Apart from a few insect bites and some very tired legs we all felt surprisingly ok!! We’ll let you know ASAP the amount raised for this very worthwhile cause.
