An introduction to GBGC Senior Section open to all members who are aged 55 or over
During the golf season we play approximately 13 handicap competitions. These take place during the week over your choice of either Tuesday or Wednesdays, the majority are Stableford format.
The three Knock competitions Bob Eden Cup, Peter Ellis Cup and Lambert Bowl are also played in the week during the daytime, so if entering, your work pattern needs to be flexible to accommodate others.
All our competitions are played from the forward yellow tees.
A nominal £5.00 yearly subscription is levied to cover the section’s running costs.
We have over 100 members and each year also play 24 inter club matches, home and away, with local clubs both competitive and social to which all senior members are encouraged to take part in.
Follow our notice board in the locker room or club website diary along with our monthly Newsletter to all Senior Section members.
Matches are also played within the club against our Juniors, Ladies and Captain’s teams.
All our seasons fixtures and inter club match request for players are displayed on our notice boar, this is located as you enter the locker room towards the end of the first isle.
In August, our popular ‘Seniors Open Competition’ is run which is very well supported by clubs both local and distant. The playing season concludes with our ‘Senior Shotgun Presentation’ in October and presentation of the annual trophies.
