Ladies course for beginners / improvers

On the 24th June 2019 we launched the start of our ladies beginner / improver’s course, an initiative to introduce the game of golf to those ladies who have never had the opportunity to give it a go.  The sessions were led by our PGA qualified golf professional Tom Palmer who took the ladies on a 4 week discovery of the game in the glorious surroundings of our golf club.

An article produced last year by England Golf stated that only 15% of club members are female so being a golf club with a passion for inclusion we endeavoured to do something about it.  Great Barr Golf Club has a fantastic ladies section but we want this to grow even stronger so we held a Ladies taster golf session on the 2nd June 2019 which was a huge success where we had a great time showing our guests around the golf club and its facilities it has to offer, at the same time giving the ladies their first taste of golf.

With the feedback from our budding golfers the club decided to help them on their golfing journey by creating a fun and relaxed coaching programme taking our promising new golfers to the next stage of their golfing career.  The 4 week session covered the following key aspects of golf:

1) Putting

2) Driving

3) Chipping and bunker play

4) Iron play

The group had a great time learning to play the game and of course enjoying the wonderful surroundings in glorious sunshine.
