Ladies Bunker Session
Ladies Bunker Session

On the 2nd June Great Barr Golf club hosted its first ladies golf taster session.

The session was created to give an insight to the game for ladies who are keen to get into golf but not had the opportunity to give it a try.  With no plus 4’s or equipment required the session was made very accessible to all.

Great Barr’s lady captain Debbie Cooper and assistant club professional Tom Palmer were delighted to welcome 12 ladies to the session.  After a quick introduction session our guests were shown around the clubhouse followed by a quick group lesson from Tom.  And in the standard British tradition the session was followed by a cuppa and a catch up in our Calthorpe lounge with its picturesque views overlooking the 1st tee and 18th Green.

Golf has it stereotypes and whilst some people consider it “a good walk spoilt” there are several benefits in playing the game and being a member of a club.  There is of course the exercise, a typical round of golf around Great Barr Golf Club can see you walk around 6 miles, though the social element makes the walk a lot more pleasant!

The ladies section is a vibrant section at the club.  With regular competitions for all abilities there is always someone to play with, meeting people and having fun in the fresh air is what’s at the heart of the game of golf.

Feedback from the session was excellent and as a result a series of group coaching session has now been booked to take those ladies onto the next stages of learning to play golf.

Our lady Captain was thrilled with how the session went.

We are looking to run more of these sessions in the future, to register your interest please contact Tom Palmer on tompalmerpga@hotmail.com or our club secretary on secretary@greatbarrgolfclub.co.uk and we will be in touch when the next dates are released.
